He was armed with a net, a trident and a dagger and only armoured with a galerus and a manica. The retiarius fought the heavy armoured secutor. The net was used to trap the opponent, after this the retiarius stabbed with his trident. This net is hand woven of 4 mm thick jute rope. It has mashes of 4,5 x 4,5 cm and is 1,3 square metres.
