With folding end doors, they continued the long tradition of the Covered Carriage Truck (CCT), a type dating back to the 19th century for the movement of road carriages and cars. However, as motor cars grew larger, they were banned from these duties in the mid 1960s, after which newspapers, mail and parcels traffic formed the bulk of their work. Many
