Instituted on 9 June 1857 by Friedrich Gnter. (1915 1918 Issue). A silver Maltese cross with pebbled arms and with swords between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a central framed rampant lion, the reverse inscribed with the crowned royal monogram of Friedrich Gnter, measuring 39. 94 mm (w) x 50. 74 mm (h), obverse centre displays period repairs to medallion and is slightly off
