He took over the estate from his father in 1989, right when many of his peers changed their winemaking chasing after critical scores. Claudio never did, and still makes his wine in a strictly traditional way, using large, old barrels, organic farming, and long, slow fermentations. The 2019 edition of his Castellero Cru is sublime, with all the delicacy of the vintage. Aromas of cherry fruit
