The throat of the scabbard is held together by a single rivet and retains a functional spring catch for secure storage of the dagger when not in use

size stamped "7-1/8" on the left side and marked "7" in black handwritten ink on the right side

In silver gilt, with light blue and white enamels, illustrating the interlocking monogram letters "CA" (Charles Albert) on the obverse centrepiece, the reverse centrepiece inscribed "AL MERITO CIVILE 1851", measuring 37. 5 mm (w) x 41. 1 mm (h), replacement ribbon, light wear, central medallion slightly loose, near very fine.
