Constructed of bronze, consisting of a convex Cross Patte with its arms joined through the quadrants by a circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a central monogram of Duke Friedrich II, the six oclock arm bearing an institution date of 1914, the twelve oclock arm bearing a raised crown, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback
