Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Patte, the obverse with a central Hohenzollern eagle above a ship, the arms with an inscription of ALSEN 29. JUNI 1864, the reverse with a central leftward facing profile of King Wilhelm I, circumscribed by name and title, with a laurel wreath through the quadrants, unmarked,
