Constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, surrounding a pebbled field overlaid by a banner bearing an inscription of SCHLAGETER, above crossed swords and with a Latin Cross emerging from the top, flanked by RHEIN RUHR 1923 24 campaign clasps, the reverse with four visible clips securing the clasps in position, with a vertical
