An Order Of The Black Star, Commander GTRexclude Instituted in 1792(Ordre de l'toile Noire) Commanders neck badge, Maltese Cross in silver gilt and enamels, 56. 8 mm wide by 94 mm including crown suspension height, with a weight of 74. 4 grams. No hallmarks, with full length of neck ribbon, in fine condition. Footnote: The order was created in 1889 by King Toffa of Dahomey, West Africa, and it became a French Colonial award in 1896 for 10 years service in West and Equatorial Africa by the military.
