Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an shield bearing a raised propeller, anchor, and edelweiss, representing the Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, and Gebirgsjger, respectively, topped by an inscription of flanked by a date of 1940, topped by an inscription of NARVIK and a German national eagle perched on top of a wreathed swastika, affixed with all four attachment prongs to a magnetic metal backplate with a dark
