Republic of XVIII - The Attack ofA collection of well preserved watercolour drawings, painted by a Canadian soldier who fought in Italy during World War 2. The drawings were completed during and after the Battle of Ortona, which ended on 28 December 1943. Included in this group are two portraits of Major General Vokes, who led the 1st Canadian Infantry Division, and Major General B. M. Hoffmeister, who led the 5th Canadian (Armoured) Division.
