The cap is fully surrounded by scalloped fold down side panels, secured in place at the front with a reinforced buttonhole on the luft flap meeting a bakelite button on the right flap. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia in the form of a field grey rayon trapezoid bearing a machine embroidered silver grey SS style Totenkopf, topped by a SS style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile
