Small Red Lacquer Painted Box Blanket Trunk These are varnished in redShanxi, circa 1920 Once presented as a gift box either for newlyweds or at another occasion, this charming little box is in its original red lacquer finish, now worn to show the wood underneath. The front is decorated with the old paintings showing a songbird perched on a branch and the box is closed with a simple metal clasp. It would still make a lovely gift today, or use it as a memento or jewellery box.
